Hi guys. I recently purchased my taco last Thursday. I managed to order in a 4 cylinder double cab. I live in Tampa FL and the dealership managed to bring this one in from across the state from Melbourne. I really just wanted the utility of a truck but without the high maintenance. This 4 cylinder model was right up my alley. I'm completely happy with the way the truck looks and features. Here are a few pics.

I managed to pick her up brand new for 22,900 before tax tag and tittle.
Features included are: SR5 package, carpet mats, daytime running lights and tinted windows. I'm really happy with the fuel economy of 19/25.

    You still can't get a 4x4 DC with the 2.7...only 2wd models.

Nice truck - slushbox or manual?

Mines an access cab manual 4cy PR, the best mileage I've seen yet is 22.7. That's after removing the 2nd air filter, using 0-20W mobil 1, trimming mudflaps back 5". Before all that I barely hit 21 mpg.

you'll likely find that 4 cyl has no issues using the 87/regular fuel

Thanks for the welcome. Yes this is the first year Toyota brings back the 4 banger DC. There was no option for manual and also they are only 2x4, no 4wd option.

The biggest reason I bought this truck is because they hold their value so good. Here's a 2004 Double cab 4 cylinder in my area going for 14K! This truck is 7 years old and has 70,000 miles. I spent the extra 8k for a brand new truck. Hopefully mine will hold it's value and in 7 years I doubt I'll have 70k miles.

I'm going to run some 93 for the first 5k miles. I might switch to 87 but the summers get pretty hot here in Florida so I might stick with 93. I've yet to read the owners manual. I'm enjoying my first truck too much :-D

Welcome to TW. Nice truck you have there. I wish I could've gotten a DC. All the DC's they had when I was getting mine were V6's and even the used ones were almost what you paid for yours.

I also was putting 93 in mine when I got it. Since then I've switched to 89, but found where I can get 100% gas with no ethanol.

The truck seems to like it more and I get better mileage. I'm also going to start using Marvel or Lucas in the gas when I fill it up.

I'm like everyone...always wanted a Toyota truck. I had a 03 Nissan Frontier, 4 cylinder, that thing lasted forever with no problems (184,000 miles) and I'm hoping my Toyota last even longer. I've been averaging about 22.5-23.0 mpg. After putting on a Leer XL, it went up a tad bit to 24 mpg (75-80% highway-20-25% city). I was worried it might go down, but it didn't...Thank God, especially with gas close to 4 dollars a gallon here in San Diego. I wanted a V6, but not at these gas prices.

I call BS. As far as I know the ONLY 4banger DC is a 5lug and NOT a Prerunner... Post a pic of the engine bay...

^ Really? Man, there have been multiple threads talking about the new option for 2011 of the 2.7 in the DBL Cabs... Where have you been? Go on the Toyota website, look under the Tacoma's model and prices. You will clearly see a 2.7 Prerunner DBL Cab...
