re gearing my tacoma

i am going to re gear my 2.7l tacoma and i dont know if i should get 4:56 or 4:88 gears. i have 33's on it and when i looked it up and can pretty much get either one. i was just wondering what everyone thought and if anyone knew a good place to get them from?

I haven't regeared myself, so take it for what it's worth-

Do you drive on the highway a lot?

How bad is your current acceleration from a dead stop?

If you drive a lot on the highway, I'd go with 4:56. It will help you with MPG. Especially if your current acceleration isn't HORRIBLE, just looking for something better.

If you don't drive on the highway a lot, or current acceleration is horrible go with 4:88.

My acceleration isnt horrible, and i do have to do quite a bit of highway driving, so i was already thinking 4:56's. i am glad that someone who has done it already got back to me. how much of a difference did this make on your truck?

I say 4.56 would be good.. I think 4.88 gearing is a little extreme that is if your running 35" tire. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

I have 4.56 for freeway driving reason and I'm completely satisfied with the results. For me I got a bit better gas mileage especially around town. At 65 on the freeway I gained a bit any quicker mileage goea Dow. Pickup is great especially after driving with the 4.10 forever.

im running 4.88s with a 33" tire and i love it. however, i dont do a lot of highway driving. when i do, im at 3K rpm going 75 mph and i dont mind it at all. the power and acceleration is amazing. the 4.88s help it perform extremely well offroad.

the only way i would go with 4.56 gears is if i did mostly highway driving and didnt encounter many hills.
