egr valve

    hopped up 96 single cab 5 lug 4 banger
    Fabtech uppers and spindles, extended shackles in rear, k&n intake, flowmaster exhaust, and much more to come
    anyone know how to fix an egr valve on a 96 2.4l 4 banger. it says i have excessive flow. i dont know what hell to do. any ideas other than replacing it?

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    You normally can't fix them. I would look for vacuum line leaks, check the VSV and if that doesn't fix your issue, replace the EGR

    OME Suspension, BFG 33x10.50 AT, Light Racing Upper Control Arms, Rear ARB Air Locker, LCE Header, Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler, K&N Intake
    I had the same code. Egr was fine.

    Fixed some exhaust leaks and it took care of it.

    Could be a number of things.

    Deck plate mod, intake silencer removed, AFE Pro Dry S Air Filter, debadged, Goodyear Duratracs 265/75R16. Flowmaster knock-off muffler!
    before replacing the egr valve, i would try cleaning it!

    Removing the EGR does nothing for performance. The EGR doesnt function at WOT, and its needed to keep the combustion chamber cool during part throttle operation, which also gives optimal fuel economy.

    well i stand corrected. it is useful to delete them on diesel engines though right? i still don't see how throwing exhaust back into the engine cools the combustion chamber. am i missing something here?
