    Hi guys,

Last night my dad's truck's pipe/cat were stolen, since I am not very familiar with the Tacoma, I'd like to ask you guys what are missing on this truck?

It's a 2004 Tacoma regular cab. Also do you know where he can get cheap replacement parts? I also noticed that his hangers/rubbers were cut off. I hope the o2 sensor is still in tact. Below are the pictures.

Damn that is the strangest thing! i have never seen a stolen cat where they actually unbolted it! every other one i have heard of the thief used a piper cutter or a sawzall. Sadly you cant get a good aftermarket cat they dont tend to last more than a year (at least on the 1st gens). The factory one happens to be stupid $$$$ but its the only reliable option. My advice is make friends with someone who works at toyota so you can get a new cat at employee discount:D. It looks like everything else is still there. You will need new cat+bolts+exhaust gaskets. And maybe a converter lock.

Edit: Definatly call the police and report it. Who knows it may show up at a scrap yard.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps one of the fabricators on this site can come up with an idea; like a skid plate style cover that bolts on around that area. Sounds like a million $$ idea.

it appears they stole the resonator. you can see the cat in the picture.that is unless you dads truck is a 6cyl.if so they only stole one cat.but i was always under the impression that the reg cabs only came with 4cyl.

x2. Just covering the bolts wont work though cause like capetaco12 said most of the time they just cut them out. You would need something that covers the whole cat. Wouldnt be super cheap but would be less than a new cat

Yeah this idea has been thrown around in many threads. There is a guy on here that actually made a nice one but you had to drill into your frame to attach it and it didn't have enough cuts/holes to let all that heat out.
There are the CatLock and Cat Clamp that are mass produced. they are the commercial kind. I live in cali where stolen cats happen all to much. but lately it has died down but i still worry about it.
But if this gets the attention once again for any fabricators to come up with a skid for the cats that allow a lot of airflow then i'm in to buy one.

No they definatly stole the correct part. That is the cat on a 4 banger.

OP Seems like a few People have had luck with magnaflow cats. However also a few of them only lasted a year before failing. Aftermarket doesnt seem to put enough precious metals inside their cats.

Edit: i was looking at that backwards the cat is still there???

Looks like they were nice enough to unbolt it, never seen that before! It's usually a horrific saws-all hack and run.
