fair price for this truck?

Hey guys...

I'm need some advice on what a fair price for this tacoma would be. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

I feel like 14K for a 2006 with 73k miles is too much... I have no problem with getting a higher mileage truck, but need some advice on what to pay for something like this (would 11k be fair)... I have a budget of $14000-15000 to spend on a new truck and would like it to be 4x4 and 4cyl (for better gas mileage). Is it possible to find one like this with ~50k miles?

well its good to know that even if I pay 14k im not getting ripped off... I guess i'm comparing it to a 2007 tundra 5.7 with 50k miles (and the dealer is asking the same price). I feel that the smaller / cheaper tacoma would be much less, seeing as it has an extra 20k miles and is a year older, but they must hold there value better.

Offer 11k, the worst they could say is no. I dont think that is a 14k dollar truck. Dealers build a BIG margin into used cars and so you should be able to get it for 11 or 12.

Good luck.

Think 14k is VERY high.....granted its an SR5, which DOESNT give you power windows, locks in the standard cab....Just priced a 2011 Tacoma 4x4 2.7L manual which you cant choose the SR5 package is 20,230....so figure you can get it for about 19k + taxes ect...for a NEW truck. only 5k more then your 70k used one. about 90/month more and youre in a brand new truck with a 5/60 powertrain warranty and timing CHAIN... ive heard of trade in on our trucks being VERY high, less then 15% depreciation then you pay within 2 years of ownership. not bad...just got a bed cover from a guy that traded is 09 in, almost 3 years and 30k miles later, he got 2500 less then what he paid for the truck new off the lot. love toyotas!!!!

my 2006 5 lug access cab with 58k and power everything and automatic ended up being 12,500 out the door, they also gave me 8,000 for my 04 crustang with 90+ k and frame damage. its all about working the system i feel like i could sell the truck now and make a profit. i think its a ok deal and it has 4x4 but make them call you back and see if they can lower it. more than likely they can afford to

Typical Mark up from what the dealer paid wholesale/trade in value averages about 3-4K. Assume they paid 4k less then the advertised price and start from there...

Yea, I didn't even go look at the truck... I tried sending the dealer a email about getting a carfax, and a little more info on the truck. After 3 emails (two I sent through there website, and one through autotrader) and no reply, I don't even feel like dealing with them. Lowzone is right I could get a brand new one for about 20K, if not cheaper, and more than likely not even pay more per month (by just defering it for an extra year).

I'll let you guys know what I end up doing, thanks again for the help!
