2.7L oil cooler?

Has anyone installed an engine oil cooler on the 2.7L 4 cyl. engine? Can you give details? Where did you get the parts? Was it an easy job? Would you do it again? Would like to put one on a 2011 4 cyl. with engine and front skid plates.

Is this the 3/4in thick circular device that attaches where the oil filter fits? It looks like the oil filter is then installed after this device is fitted. Has anyone used one on a 2.7L and do the skid plates interfere on the 4x4's?

it shouldn't. im running an oversized oil filter on mine and there would be more than enough room to put the sandwich plate in as well. and i have a skidplate that sits higher than the 4x4 ones do.

 

whats the point? u going to be running a big turbo ?

There is plenty of room. I run a M209 filter and still have tons of room.

There almost appears to be oil line fittings above the filter. What are those? Are they for a cooler?

I recently put in a new two-row radiator (actually has about 0.5 inch of more width) and it has connections for a transmission. Since I have a 5-speed, would it be possible to route oil to that cooler in the radiator? Just a thought... Not planning on it anytime soon.

 

If you have a 4cyl 5 speed then IMO, eng oil cooler is overkill and money that could be spent on other mods.....unless you are racing it, but not sure why you'd do that.
