Squeeks at start up then goes away. Bad belt?

My 98 tacoma 4cyl squeeks at start up then quickly goes away. Belt im guessing.

 

Off the record, you may be able to get over 200k on the original factory belts without them cracking or wearing, depending on the climate where you live. Just spray on belt dressing when one starts to squeak, or correct the belt tightness over time.

My alternator belt eventually caused a whining noise when idling with the lights on (more current draw). Tightening it up made that go away.

The Toyota factory belts can be maintained for a surprisingly long time with belt dressing - vs. the hassle of replacing them. Just watch for any cracks and pitting on the working surfaces. "YMMV"

Just took my truck to the dealer to get the AC fixed and mentioned this as well. They said that one of the belts was to tight and fixed it for me.

 

Truck stored outside? Maybe the "morning dew" got in there and with a little moisture a belt can squeak until dry..

 

Try tightening your alternator belt.
