...and here's the drive bys Dan took of my Taco. (thanks Dan ;) )

The faster run was first gear to redline. You can hear the rev limiter kick in just before the shift.

The exhaust mods are an LCE long tube header, a Flowmaster Series 50 Delta Flow muffler, with a 2 1/4" mandrel bent tailpipe through a hole in the rear bumper.

Is the 18" Magnaflow a universal muffler? A shop here in Del Rio quoted me $135 installed for a muffler? Sound right?

NEVERMIND I read the entire thread...

What is the general consensus for having 2.5" exhaust from the muffler back. As opposed to just welding in the muffler. Whether it be 2.25" or 2.5" in and out?

My factory stock exhaust pipe was a metric diameter that comes to about 2 3/8".

So I went to a slightly smaller 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust pipe to compensate for the freer flowing long tube header and aftermarket muffler. Opening up the exhaust reduces low end pull in exchange for high end performance. Since I'm only interested in low rpm torque, I don't want to make that trade.

Good to know thanks tooter. So in theory one can put a trash can tip on like the d-bag in the diesel scene and get 15 extra HP... Awesome :D

Well Ill just get a 2.25" in and out muffler welded in. Just to be on the safe side. I plan on getting the DT header after Xmas. I have the dual cat and EGR application on my truck.

Got a 14" magnaflow installed today. Dropped truck off and had a beer down the street. It was the wrong size but I liked the sound! So it is a wash. Thank you guys.

The drone wasn't bad at all. It is very noticeable but nothing compared to my diesel. Im unsure if it really changed anything performance wise either. Not much from what I can tell. The next few days and I will know more.

I had a magnaflow on mine... I don't get it but the drone was pretty bad and it was extremely loud on cold start ups (like below 40 degrees). Had the muffler on there for 2 months and ended up having the shop put the stock back on... guess what? I miss it. Ughhhhh.
I personally liked the sound but it was literally louder than my friends straight piped ford ranger.

I went back to stock after Magnaflow and missed the sound too... after 3 days!

The 18 inch Magnaflow had cab drone at 2,000-2,300rpms. The 22 inch was way better.

Now the Flowmaster is louder than the Magnaflow, except the sound is totally different... smooth, hollow, and throaty with harmonic overtones like a Lamborghini... and I really like it. ;)

Oh boy... Now I really want it back. Is there anything I can do to keep the sound levels down at all? Id have them put the magna flow back on more than likely, although a flow master sounds appealing. I don't know the part number of the magnaflow but I do know its pretty small.

yes, the stock cats are still there untouched. It's the all stainless steel Series 50 Delta Flow. I got this particular model because it's the only one that has two different sized Helmholz resonators built into it...

On the dyno, its chambered design outperformed the straight through Magnaflow.

I had the super 44 on my 4Runner.
Loved it with headers and no cats
