447.7 miles on 16.487 gallons for an average of 27.2 MPG. Not bad for a lot of hauling and working the truck.

Good tank Andrew, is that figure corrected upward for your larger tires?

No. I should add another 8% to the overall miles traveled. So 483.5 miles on 16.487 gallons for an average of 29.32 MPG. :)

    Wow.

Some of you guys are seeing a HUGE difference between winter and summer gas.

In my case, California runs highly oxygenated gas all the time, but I'm seeing my MPG drop by around 2mpg compared to early spring.

    Rich,

The Winter gas here hurts the FE but not as much as the cold winter air. Now that things are warming up (and we're back to Summer gas), the MPGs are climbing. That said, on warmer days in the winter, I would see improved MPGs but just not as high as I see with the better fuel and warmer weather of Spring/Summer.

Filled up today 614 miles on 18.980 gallons for 32.3 mpg.

A little quicker than usual, put on 200+ miles for work including hauling 2 welders and an axxair pipe cutting bench that stuck well over the top of the cab for over 100 miles. Obvious increased wind drag, didn't exceed 30 mpg that trip, which usually would have been 36.

    Sorry for the whining.

    Nice tank Litegide

I find that my method of topping off nets about one more gallon going in. It gives me the most consistent readings. 90% of the time I fill at the same station and same pump. This also seems to help the consistency factor.

    Keep on truckin'

Modern fuel pumps are quite accurate. Considering the high price of fuel, if the pump were to be incorrect, it will pimp slightly less volume than the display reads. The gas stations are not going to be pumping extra gas into your tank. This is only going to make your fuel economy seem even better. Plus the difference from pump to pump may only alter your calculations by .1 MPG or less.

    Andrew,

The main reason I use the same pump all the time is the angle at which the truck sits, giving the pump the same backpressure from the tank at each fill. You bet that the pumps are not going to give you too much. In Missouri the Weight and Measures Dept requires it be accurate to within 2 cups. Lots of fudge factor there IMO

I like where your heads at. ;)

BTW, I didn't fill up today...but my light came on at 440 miles which should average out to 25.5 MPG or so.

Similarly rolling on a "happy" tank right now.

I'm at about 255 miles on this tank and Ultraguage says I've got another 270 to empty... says average is 25.7, and I intentionally have the calibration set a smidge high to be on the conservative side, example, Ultragauge will say 24.7 on a tank and Fuelly shows 24.9 to 25.

The average on the UG was sitting on 26.1 when I got to work this morning, but afternoon traffic killed it.

Filled up with 499.1 miles showing and used 18.83 gallons. 26.5 MPG Probably using A/C 70% of the time. Not bad. This week will probably be 100% We have a heat wave starting here.

Ultragauge, cost is around $65 shipped, it plugs directly into the OBD-II port.

I fabricated a bracket to mount it to the mirror stem.
