Found a nice app for my Android phone to find area gas prices -> Gas Buddy. You can search by your current location or store zip codes in the search. For the current location search, you have to have the GPS on and if you store zip codes, you have to sign up.

It's okay, but I stopped reporting prices and rarely open the app anymore.
I keep it for when I'm out of town and looking to find a station since it is going to be more current than GPS maps (been more than once Garmin has directed me to a vacant lot), but I don't rely on it for accurate prices... just a general ballpark for the area.

One thing is GB policy is that if the station has a cash discount, THAT price is to be posted... not the credit/debit price that is most useful. That can be a big difference. We've got a 76 station nearby that is $0.40 higher for Diesel for credit/debit, and he's $0.20 higher for gas. His cash prices are competitive with other's credit prices, but someone using the app and getting off the freeway is in for a big surprise.

Another big thing is points-padding. I could drive down a main street, noting gas prices, input the updates when I got to my office, and see that half the stations in the city had recently been updated by the same person, only a few minute apart. Okay, maybe he updated from his office like I am.
Nope... prices are wrong. He's just opening up stations and refreshing the prices that are already there.
So on my way home, I'd note the prices, then stop to get a drink and enter the updates before getting on the freeway.... someone else has been updating the prices, the same prices I entered that morning... and 3 out of 5 of the stations had changed prices during the day.

Also encountered a number of locations where it seemed that a nearby station was bumping the prices of its competitors.

Why send in false updates? GB has a regular drawing for a $100 gas card. You get one entry for every 1000 points you earn. You can earn a max of 750 points per day from gas updates, but you can earn more by participating in their forum (the forum for my county is dead).
Okay... so 750 points per day is only updating all three prices on two stations (150pts per price). Why try to pad?

Worthless "awards".
They have 9 categories of "awards" and the more prices you report, the more of these worthless brownie points you get. Each award has different levels, you increase levels by reporting more frequently.
The awards don't get you points, they can't be used for the gas card drawings, they don't even appear on the web site. Nobody but the person holding your smartphone knows about them. They are just bragging rights, like passing level 200 on Candy Crush.

But people "cheat" on GB prices. There is no benefit other than helping the community in reporting more than 5 prices a day, and it is not helping the community to report "stale" prices.

GB will ban users who are reported doing this, but it is just so common that it's impossible to get everyone. There were no less than 3 different people in the area of my office and 2 in the area of my home doing this. I found that half of my price reports were corrections of false reports... it just wasn't worth the hassle.

Most recent tank 347 miles on 17.2 gallons= 20.1. 50/50 highway and city and about 45 miles in 4x4. Pretty good tank for how cold it's been and the ratio for city to highway. 2012 access cab 5 speed 4x4 with 2 inch lift and 265/75/16

Just did a 220 mile trip to the Clemson SC area. Many hills between there and Charlotte. All but 20 of those were 65mph highway.

25mpg

22.6, 22.4, and 23.4 mpg for the last three. Considering the incredible cold this year that's not horrible! Killing my average though.

Temp at the bank said -20F last night. Found out that my buddy's Avalon blows its EFI fuse every five minutes at that temp. Still don't know why. Pain in the butt. At least the Tacoma runs ok, albeit sounding like I'm using a hand crank to turn it over in the morning.

6 lug 4x4 standard cab i have gotten around 330 miles for 15 gallons which is about 22 mpg. this is the best i can really get. I'm impressed that the mpg doesn't drop that much for mixed driving. I can get 18 mpg city pretty consistently.

Worst tank in a long time, really cold and no long trips, just to and from work.

464 miles on 18.01 gallons for 25.8 mpg.

It can only get better from here.

Hey, this is the one and only time I'll ever be able to post that I actually had better mileage than WW, so I have to do it. Filled up Sunday: 369mi, 13.81 gallons for 26.7 mpg. It's been significantly warmer here lately which sure makes a difference.

I thought my gas gauge might be sticking again, but alas, the truck likes the ethanol-free a LOT better. This worked out to 27.2 mpg this tank

I still have the tires at 35 psi too

Another all in-town tank. Lots of 3.5 miles trips back and forth to work. 328.4 miles / 16.5 gallons = 19.9 MPG

Next tank will be better as I have a long highway trip planned tomorrow.

The weather has shifted, it will only get better.

562 miles on 19.164 gallons for 29.3 mpg.

But the last tank took almost 2 months. 4 more tanks and it will be winter again!

Except I have a trip to Yellowstone planned for June, should get some awesome tanks on that trip.

403 miles on 17.25 gallon = 23.4MPG. That good MPG is coming to an end. For the last 5 weeks, I was working at another company facility that was 46 miles from my house. Out of 90+ miles a day, 80 miles were freeway.
