I'm fooling around with the truck today looking for stuff to do. I'm thinking of taking off the resonator anything wrong with that good, bad or does it matter or will it effect the performance at all?

I took mine off a couple years ago. I think it gives a little more response to the throttle and makes the intake a little louder. Kind of like the elbow mod or deckplate mod on the 1st gens. I doubt the performance gains are huge if any.

I've heard some people say that the resonator helps keep water out of the intake, but with it installed the air intake is actually lower in the fender.

It's pretty easily reversed if you take it off and don't like it.

I've heard nothing but good things about taking it out. I'm of the impression it's there to make the engine quieter at the expense of airflow.

well i asked this same question a few years back, and seeing a few people took them off awhile back i wanted to see how they like it and pros & cons about it.

I did some test a while back on a couple different vehicles, with the resonators removed, and in place. It made no difference in hp, or tq.. The only thing they affect is the sound. Nothing more.

How do you remove your intake resonator? I have an intake that requires me to cut a hole in the intake tube, and I don't feel comfortable doing that. So I would like to remove my intake resonator. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
