2 inch lift, and leveler.

Alright guys. My next investment is going to be a 2 inch lift and some tires. What kind of lift should I do? This will be seeing LOTS of snow, and some offroading come spring time. I don't want to hurt mpg that bad. Any suggestions? With the guys with a 2 inch lift, what are your mpg, and what are you running? Thanks

I am looking to do something similar. I know most ppl like the Blistine (sp) 5100's for the front and I think they do a new leafpack for the rear with 5100's. I am sure someone will chime in soon. I think the parts are around $500 all together.

Not many are purchasing a new leaf pack (some are but it's a lot more $$). Most have gone the route of an Add-A-Leaf for the rear to suppliment their factory leaf pack. If you're just looking to level the truck, Bilstein 5100's up front will do the trick for the least amount of money.

I went with 5100's set at 0 and Eibach coils for 1.6" of lift up front. You could do the same lift and set the 5100's at .85 for 2.5" of lift if you want. For the rear I went with a 1.5" Icon 3-leaf AAL and 5100's. 5100's for this rear set-up are technically a little too short but unless you really flex out your truck, it will work just fine. I did not notice a drop in MPG due to the lift. I then went from 265/65R17 to 265/70R17 tires (about 1" taller and the same width) and again, no MPG drop if I keep my foot out of it.

I think what it comes down to is, how high do you want to lift the truck and what do you want to spend?

Everything I typed only applies to 6 luggers (4wd or Prerunners). I saw the OP is in Alaska and figured me MUST have 4wd.

From what I am getting at, is that a front spacer and a 1 inch block in the rear is my best bet. I am getting the 4 leaf spring on Thursday installed by my dealer. I can adjust my toe at work. Make it a little -.1 and call it good. I will post the TSB up later on today for the leaf spring. There have been A LOT of yes and no's on that subject. I hope the moderator will sticky it later on. Also, it is a 6 lug. And what does (op) mean?? Thanks

A front spacer and a block for the rear is far from your best bet... All you get with that is the cheapest way to add height to a truck, ride quality is not improved (actually the block will cause it to be worse due to axle wrap). Why would you set your toe to -0.1?? You lost me on the yes's and no's and stickies.... What are you trying to get stickied?

-.1 for the road wear up here in Alaska. Also, I am going to post the TSB updated for the rear leaf spring TSB. There is a lot of argument on these forms about if the TSB is valid for your vehicle or not. I am hoping that the moderator will stick it.

Also, I don't see how that would cause an axle warp? We aren't drag racers. It wouldn't improve nor make the ride quality worse in the front. Maybe a little in the rear. But, not much. But, I am planning to bag it anyways.

3" block in the rear and three months later im looking for new leafs. mine are sitting less than parallel to the ground. before the block they were fine no major off roading since. spacer in the front is good as long as you put nicer struts up there. i work at autozone forthe time being and i put gabriel max cotrol struts and it rides like a cadi' lol well almost

Blocks space down the axle from the leaf springs giving them a lot more torque to wrap the springs. The taller the block, the worse the issue.

Once again...I'm not drag racing this thing. It is ONLY a 1 inch block. I plent of people with blocks for YEARS and have no issue. I am getting the 4 leafspring installed later on this week, so that should help with it a bit.

Understood... The Tacoma is already known to have weak leaf springs to begin with, so do what you want but the block will wear out the leafpack more quickly.
