Anyone have 4.88 gears on their 4 banger?

I have been wanting to re gear my truck to 4.88's to handle my 33's, but i cant really find any complete differentials. i could get all the parts but i know that most shops mess them up when they put new gears in. anyone know where i might find one for pretty cheap?

My tire noise dwarfs my engine noise even in 4th gear, so I expect no issues when I install mine.

(my 4.88s are sitting on the garage floor and going in next week.)

thats what i was questioning. i didnt know if it would be better to get 4.56's cuz its my dd. but i live in WV and everywhere is on a hill, so i am still really considering getting 4.88's and just living with it on the highway, i dont drive it too much on the highway anyways.

Got the 5sp? Try keeping it in 4th or lower for a week and see how that works for you. Revs in 4th at 4.10 slightly higher than revs in 5th at 4.88.

Ive got 4:88s and mines a dd. It all depends on how fast you drive i guess. The truck revs at 3000 rpms at 75 mph, and thats the fastest i drive so its not so bad, keeps the engine at a good rev so most hills are drivable without having to downshift
I also got fully assembled 3rds from ECGS and installed them myself. Chase and the guys there are fantastic and stand behind there work.
I had an issue with my front clamshell and drove down there on a trip to Utah and they ripped it all apart looked it over and thru in a new R&P. He also put a new water pump in my truck for just his cost of the part and no labour.

Really great guys!!!

Interested in this. Can someone tell a newb what the stock gearing is for the 2.7L, 4 x 2, reg cab, 5 lug, 5 speed? Is it 4.1?
Also is it wise it to get a regear for 235/75 r15's or is the stock fine?

5 lugs have a higher rear end ratio (numerically lower.). Don't recall exactly what, tho.

My Jeep has 4:88s and if you dont mind doing 55 on the highway all the time go for it! I think 4:56s would handle 35s just fine though
