I think you need to read the entire thread before running off at the mouth. Quite a few 6cyl guys have posted in this thread claiming 17-20mpg.

Just to be clear... do you have a 4 or a 6?

No matter which one you have, if you're patient and give your engine time, your mileage will steadily improve. From what I've read here, as well my experience with own 4, your mileage will increase until it stabilizes at about 15,000 miles. :)

I ran a loaner v6 while getting my cluth done on my 4 banger and did about 20 average over 3 days during the summer. All highway and flat inclines. Combined with the new engine hit you must be in a pretty hilly area. It's also winter, so that doesn't help either.

My avg MPGs are dropping with the weather as to be expected. Maintaining a 22 MPG yearly average takes a lot of work. But I've never had a tank where I was below 20 MPGs (last 18 months or so).

Even with my MDX, I've never gotten below 20 MPGs, so even with a V6 Tacoma, I suspect that numbers in the low 20s is readily achievable (especially with a manual transmission).

New stock vehicle: I suspect the members here are right - wait a bit and see things improve.

Older stock vehicle: I would suspect it's time for maintenance of some kind.

Weather, terrain and driving conditions all affect fuel economy. Some here fight the stop-and-go of traffic. Others face hilly terrain. Others like to drive fast-stop fast. And others like the modifications (big tires, lifts, etc.). Evaluating what's at the root of low MPGs and changing things (if so desired) can improve your FE. It's really about optimizing your conditions and doing the best you can...or want. Good luck!!

Cold weather and the winter gasoline blend both combine to take their toll on mileage. I found that where I live, those two factors make a difference of about 2 mpg, but I'm sure the difference is greater in colder areas. Ethanol content also screws up mileage.

I got 18mpg before lift and 33s 16mpg after that and now I'm getting about 13-14 with open exhaust and 4:10 gears but then again I never drop below 2500 rpm. I drive like a jack wag
