How you can increase throttle response, is a little counter intuitive:

Maybe a positive answer? Our stock intakes are already "cold-air." Putting an open filter under the hood is just gonna take in more warm air than the original cold air. I bought a Volant. Everyone's gonna trash talk these but i hear more noise, feel better throttle response and maybe .5 mpg better around town. closed box though, dont do an open filter

EDIT: For my 09 reg cab, it deleted the smog filter, and some sort of emissions filter too. when the air has less stuff to travel through, obviously its gonna get there faster? Try the smog filter delete sticky; cheap and easy. or if not, the best intake for the 4 banger is Volant :)

You can open the intake piping to the size of a trash can and you still will not get any more air past the throttle body. Glitz is all it is.

    or we can let our fellow taco owners spend their money on what they wish? look;
STOCK INTAKE: the air is caught up through the fender, into the box, through the filter through a SMOG filter, through kinked and bent hoses, into another filter, through the throttle body spacer and into the engine.
AFTERMARKET INTAKE: USUALLY... thinner filter, no smog filter, no secondary filter, straighter and wider piping.
Am i the only one here who sees the significance? Sure you're not gonna gain 25 MPG or 15 HP..but its gonna do a little better than stock.

By all means, bolt up whatever pretty thing you want to your engine. All Im saying is it takes alot more to get gains from these engines, and if an air intake made the "throttle response" better, it would also have an increase in the HP. Not many intakes show a gain, and I have only seen 2. One of wich is the URD unit.

    Pretty much.

    Thankyou...
OP: for that price..you can pick up a better intake than just K&N. Like i said before, i have a Volant and LOVE it. A lot of mods can be a rip off, but if you do enough research you'll find what you need. My Volant intake + MBRB dual exhaust = faster, better milage and LOUDER than a stock 09 4x4 reg cab. oh..just my $.02 :)

Side note: This actually happens, I get it too. Pressure and temperature are directly related. With the lower (vacuum) pressure area created inside the manifold, when air rushes in to fill that space, it creates a slightly lower pressure in the tubing, lowering the temperature.

That very well could be. I havent seen it, but that could also be to the temps during the times Ive tested them

YES!...Why not? Just use a K&N filter, and whatever other Kool aid you want to drink.

According to the wonders of Torque. Seriously, you should get it, saved my ass from overheating this weekend.
Actually.. yes, you could physically route a cooling system through the computer that controls your ATRAC...

You want to get more air into your engine do it right add a super charge or a turbo the stock filter all ready has several times the capacity needed to pass nice filtered air into the engine, each piston only has roughly the displacement of a 20 oz. coke and it's only going to happen one at a time. Pulling air into and engine takes a lot of energy no matter what you do with an intake tube it's nothing more then an air compressor tests have shown there is no gain by completely removing the air filter and tubing beauty is in the eyes of the beholder if you believe it works it does.

I don't understand why the concept of removing constrictive intake tubing is so difficult for people. No it's not any "Colder" of cold air, but it does help streamline the process

Power does not equate to response. Perhaps get to speed faster(MPH), but not "rev".

I saw that, congrats man! Did you get the heat shrink yet?
... In order to "get to speed faster" the engine must rev up faster
