picked up my 4x4 reg cab from dealer today. in order to get a 5sp tranny had to go with black in color. blue was 1st choice, red 2nd. the tonn cover will be here in 3 weeks. been 20 yrs since i've had a manual tranny and took me alittle time to get back in the saddle. dealer was not much help, my appt was 2:00 and i didn't leave till 4. how about break end on engine, dealer said nothing about it. i dropped and raised my speed every 5 mins. dealer was 60 miloes from my house.how many miles should i do this. also were do you guys shift at, seems like 2.5 g's was a good place to start. how many g's are u using for fuel economy? i'll get some pics as soon as daylight comes tomorrow. all n all i like this little reg cab. i'm use to the prerunner, which my son is now driving.

I haven't driven a manual in years myself. Used to be all I would drive, then I guess I got lazy. I'm sure it wouldn't be an easy transition to go back.

Congratulations on the your new toy! I have a 2012 Reg Cab 4x4 with a stick too. I shift between 2k and 2.5k and will continue to throughout its lifetime, as it's not a hot rod.

Shift low, you don't have to worry about mileage quite as bad with your 4cyl but keep it under 2k as much as possible. It was weird for me at first but my mileage sucked so I'm trying it and it's helping.

Black isn't so bad :D it'll grow on ya

I REALLY like the spruce mica best, followed by the new nautical blue

Black looks awesome if it is clean! Shifting lower is always preferred for MPGs but, lets face it, with a 4 banger it often isn't practical to shift at 1800 RPM.

I love manuals in sports cars and tow rigs. Otherwise, give me a slush box. I don't blame you at all though!

I drove it normal for break in.. And sweet spot is right around 2200 to shift on.. Not sure what it would be for saving gas.. It's a 4 banger so...
