I just got a 2001 pre runner sr5 with 183000 miles in it. in great shape and still running strong. I did a little search but nothing came up.What should i do first I was thinking on changing all the fluids, but I heard somewhere that it is not good to change the tranny oil cause with that milage the new oil could be to slick for it. its that true? Later i am going to check compression to se if it need valve adjustment or maybe a fresh head install dont know. What do you guys think?

i would change out fluids. as far as tranny goes, thats your call. i did mine at 250k. i replaced the fliter and just refilled it. i used toyota tranny fluid in mine. 25k later the tranny is fine. unless you are using alot of oil, i would leave the head alone. if the timing belt or chain has not been done, you might want to tackle that. as well as water pump and tstat and belts. my 02/sr5 had a 6 cyl and had a timing belt. i just replaced all that stuff 2 weeks ago @275k,hth
