He nailed it right on the head, a Toyota inline motor will outlast any V motor I am willing to bet, look at the old 22RE motors, usually the old Toyota pickups rusted apart before that motor quit! I never knew the block was iron, interesting!

Post the same question ("advantages") to 6-cylinder owners and you'll probably get nearly the same answers - performance, reliability, longevity, and so on. The vehicles are not all that different (MPG's, etc). For example, the 4-cylinder's iron block isn't so impressive when it's mated with aluminum components (pistons, etc - just like the V6) inside.
