Ron, I don't think the fuel economy numbers even on the 4 cyl were supposed to be great. 19 is probably realistic if you have a mixed commute and you're not running through at least 3/4 of your tank on the highway.

Curiosity, anyone seen a picture on here of a white AC with a lift, all four rims spares that are white, and I believe he had a tan soft top camper on. I saw a pic of it before I got mine and thought it was awesome looking but cant find it again. I have tried googling it and stuff. I remember someone on the thread said that pic gets around lol. And sorry idk if it was a 4 or 6.

Not sure about the 2.7, but I think the manual can achieve better economy in this model. Also if your truck is brand new you have to give it more than 1100mi to break in and achieve optimal mpg. Switching over to synthetic in the transmission, transfer case and differentials will also help. Michigan is cold this time of year. If you are letting it warm up for five minutes before you run it the mileage will be low on a short commute, 10mi to 20mi. If you put heavy all terrain tires on it for the winter that will contribute even if stock size.

Many manuals on this site can get 25 plus in warm weather with stock everything. For me personally I go from an average of 24, that's with 80mph interstate runs and two lane highway mix, to 19-21 winter mpg with heavy all terrain tires. Winter gas, warm up times and the heavy tires (especially heavy tires) play a major pary.

If you are excellerating quickly, shifts greater than 2000rpm, you will also lose mpg. I have found that trying to keep up with other vehicles off the line drops mpg, but getting up to speed a little slower and doing everything possible to maintain an average speed of 40 to 60 mph gets me the best mpg.

FWIW, and only to add to the conversation, I do have aftermarket wheels and tires(265/70/17 which is a stock size on a TRD model), I dropped about 6# of rotating weight per corner over the stock setup if anything my mileage should have improved, it did not. I cannot argue with anyone's personal results but I can say I have driven like a little old lady and driven like I was in a race car and it doesn't really seem to care, 20.8mpg is the average over a full tank.

Just got back from a camping trip testing out the new frame, leafs, shocks, and tires that were recently installed. Drives like a new truck! Loving it! Billy's all around, front set at .85 on stock coils. 265/75 Goodyear Authority ATs

Crap picture but, those are 265/70/17 Duratracs on FN Five Star wheels. I removed the front little flapper and the mud flap behind the tire, it still rubs on the flare a little bit when turning and compressing the suspension.

Hey guys. New here, first post well more of an inquiry. I'm a long time Ford guy. I currently have an 04 F150 Supercrew with a V8. I don't ever use the rear cab area except for my dogs and I don't really tow much anymore. If I do it's no more than a cargo trailer. With that being said I am looking at the Tacoma Access cab 2005-Up, 4 cylinder 4x4. How is the power on the 2.7? Does it tow well? And are there any mods available if I did want more power? Again I'm new to the Toyota world so take it easy on me. Thanks.

What's up new guy! Ok so you obviously have to be aware that power can't be a high priority since you are taking about a pretty drastic displacement drop. Having said that, when my truck was stock, I didn't find the power to be an issue. I think the motor has plenty of low end torque and has no problem moving the truck in everyday driving. I don't tow much so I can't speak for that but I'd imagine if you wanted to tow often, a gear change would do wonders for that. On to mods ...... Gears are by far the most impacting power mod I've done. If you plan on running bigger tires, gears are a must. For bolt ons, headers made a noticeable difference, especially in low end torque. Exhaust didn't do shit, drop in filter didn't do shit for power (gave me 3 more mpg though) and a URD tuner didn't seem to do much. I run Amsoil oil in my motor, trans, tcase and both diffs and it made quit a difference in the sound and feel of all those components. I know that's not a power mod but a lot of times, simple things like running a better grade oil are over looked for performance. And then there's the URD supercharger kit which adds something like 100hp which you will def notice. Something else you will want to consider if you get a 5 speed is a clutch upgrade. Not only because the stock clutch is crap but also because, well, the stock clutch is crap. Haha

I need an opinion from the forum.
I'm looking at buying a chest tool box for my truck.
The manufacturer is Trail FX and its their serial number
    150361.
It runs 36" length and I believe 18" and 20" for depth and height.
    I'm looking at $240. New.
    Is that a fair price?
    Free shipping.
