Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
You will be upgrading those tires this winter I bet! The stock Dunlops are terrible in snow and ice.

Thanks OP! FJ guy had to replace alternator, starter and transmission. A costly swim in the silt!

did anyone see a significant mpg loss when they put 265/75s on their 2.7 access?

i am thinking about going 245/75s on some aluminums. came stock on the truck and i really want to maintain mpg at 20-22. which is what i get now all day long.

    any thoughts?

Ya I put the 1.75 5100's on the front and 265 70 17's and went from 26.5 average to about 21-22 at best

^ That sucks. I think it has to do with weight of the tire more than the size. BF goodrich a/t load E 265's weigh 54 pounds, vs 32 pounds for stock dunlop at20 tires.

yah those tires weigh a ton at that weight. you would probably gain a ron of that back by dropping tire weight and not necessarily size. maybe a p rated tire?

anyone have a pair of 245/75s that they love?

im thinking of going toyo open country at at p245/75r16 not very aggressive looking tire but it should maintain my gas milleage. 2 pounds heavier tires at the same size. worried they will look bone though without 6 ply shoulders but that adds another 5 pounds and puts the tire at around 38 pounds

Stock dunlops are shit too, the best mpg tire I had was the Bridgestone dueler 684 ii or whatever they are called that come on the stock tacomas. They have great momentum

I plan to get Michelin MS2 in 265/75r16 when these tires go bad. I hate the dunlops too, but considering it will cost 900 to replace, I can afford to wait a little longer.

I just got some bfg rugged terrains in a 235/85/16. I like them a lot, weight is 42 lbs, did lose about 2 mpg's but worth it.
If you don't like the skinnies, still check out the rugged terrains in a diff size, it's a good tire.

I am thinking pro comp 7032s 16x8. That will hopefully loose some weight and then getting P245/75r16 toyo open country A/Ts at about 34 pounds i think they are. Also 5100s at 1.7. That should get me about the same as stock and allthough the tires will be round, they will be great from jobsite to jobsite and keep my mpgs where they need to be ecomomically.

    ANY THOUGHTS?

I have to disagree 100%. Last October I had my 2.7 access cab 4x4 in western Mass when we got 15inches of snow. I was out all night having fun through the mountains and snow drifts and never got stuck once with the Dunlops. I would take them anywhere.

I got the P265/75-16 MS2s about 5 fill ups ago. the mileage is within 0.5mpg if you correct for the difference in tire diameter. Happily, the speedometer is now almost correct instead of being way optimistic.

I love the look of the taller tire, but still can't decide whether I should have gone for the 235/85-16. I have 100k miles to figure it out before I need new tires.

Here is my one, not a lot done apart from painted wheels. About to make a grill when I get a bit of spare time (or try to). Will post pics when I get done with it, unless it looks terrible.

How mine is looking currently. Still totally stock besides cosmetic and a few very minor mods like the yellow wire mode.

Nice ride! yellow wire and diff breather are next on my to do list. Have you had a chance to test the yellow wire mod yet?
