02 Tacoma 2.4L

After sitting for a while or just after fueling up my truck has a tough time starting. I have to pump the gas pedal and constantly crank for it start. After it starts up black smoke comes out the tail pipe but I'm sure that happens becuase theres too much gas to burn up right away.The check engine light is on but I forget what the codes are. I'll update once I figure them out again. I replaced the plugs but nothing else. I'm the second owner and theres about 190k miles. The next thing I was gonna do was replace the fuel filter and check sensors. Any suggestions
