    What are the benefits of the CAI for a 2nd gen 4 banger? If I live in south Florida does it really do anything for me?

    The stock in take is a cold-air intake. You can improve the air flow through the stock intake by removing the secondary charcoal filter and the resonator in the wheel well. Other than that, buying a "cold-air intake" would be a waste of money in my opinion.

    You already have a cold air intake.

    There are no advantages to aftermarket "CAI" systems other than making more noise and letting more dirt into your engine.

    I'm running an ultragauge and with the stock intake, my intake air temperature is rarely more than 5 degrees above outside air temp.

    It's a losing battle.

    People won't use the search feature, and even if they do, they will keep asking the same things over and over until they get the answer they want.


    Eventually, some kid who's bought into the hype will tell them that the CAI makes 20hp and gave them 3mpg more and they'll buy one.

    Then they'll get pissed that they LOST 3mpg because they like listening to the BRaap noise.

    12 years plus have past since I installed my fipk.
    I haven't paid for a replacement air filter/element since installed.

    The fipk may not offer any real performance increase...
    but it saved me some money... and I'm good with that

    btw... my junk runs as good as the day I bought 'er

    I'll attribute that to changing the oil/filter religiously

    ^ that... and I don't drive it like I stole it

    To each there own... I'm good
