This thread got completely off topic, anyways to the OP

I have done this so far to mine,

    Remove secondary air filter
Put in a AFE dry flow
    Removed fender resonator
Put on a Dynomax super turbo muffler

Over stock i would say throttle response is improved a tad, gas mileage is still 23 MPG no matter how i drive it, Honestly if your looking for performance out of this motor boost it or leave it alone, all i was trying to do is make it drive a bit more efficiently over factory.

Money would be more well spent keeping up with with oil changes in the engine and all diff's. i suggest going to a form of synthetic in the transaxle and transmission (GL4) and the front diff and rear diff for sure need a GL5 i use a syntheitc blend.

I like my truck i did a few exterior mods (color matched front bumper, TRD skid plate, TRD offroad wheels,) and did the TRD suspension and i was more pleased with these mods than anything else i have done.

to each their own but its a good truck, wont leave you stranded, but its not going to win in a drag race. Thats what my Race preped CR-X is for ;)

What was your reason for the Dynomax muffler over the others?
I am curious as I am about to remove the secondary filter also and maybe the resonator,

And I want to have a shop cut out the factory muffler and weld in something not so quiet but yet be ok on the freeway, I drive @30 miles a day 5-days a week for work.

I just read the reviews from people on the Forum supposedly the dynomax was the only muffler to free up the most horsepower also it has a really good rumble to it, i really like it. its quiet at cruising speeds and sounds nice all the other time

I've heard that they taste like chicken

I don't know if that information helps you at all, though.

Well, what about keeping the economical 4 cyl engine stock, except for adding a Nitrous Oxide system for 'special duty'. When you absolutely, positively gotta have a burst of horsepower. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrous#Reliability_concerns One must be aware that bursts of horsepower beyond normal designed loads can lead to damage of something......usually expensive. But, the magic is available for a price. Be it your drivetrain, license, or a fine.

    Retired/Hobbyist old as f***
I am a very proud owner of a 2000 Taco Prerunner 2.7 automatic with almost 139k miles.I have owned many many trucks. Most of them were F150's from the mid 80's to the latest 90's.I always loved Ford trucks but hated the 13.5 mpg city gas mileage no matter which gas engine was in it.Over the past few years I have also owned a couple of late 90's Z28's that were not bought for fuel economy. You do not buy any Taco for horsepower.Even a V6 is weak.I drive a 4 banger Yota for 3 reasons.GAS MILEAGE.DEPENDABILITY.STYLE.You may have some towing capacity in a V6 which is nothing compared to a Ford V8.I have been thinking real hard about buying a 2014 Taco V6 Access cab that can tow a small camper.WRONG.I will continue driving my Taco that gets 19.5 mpg in town and 26 mpg on the highway with the frosty a/c blowing. When I make the decision to buy a camper I will probably buy another F150 for power and towing but I will keep my 2.7 liter Taco that still has enough power to bark a tire. This is the best engine made by Toyota and they engineered as much horsepower as they could efficiently produce. If it ain't broke then don't fix it.
DO NOT MESS WITH THE 2.7:
