    I know the block heater on my truck is a freeze plug style, not sure if the newer models are diferent. Here is the part # Tacoma 2.7cu in I4 2TR-FE Toyota (#00213-02141) frost plug heater bought from Toyota Canada it was installed by the dealer in AK when I bought the truck.

    Hey guys, just saw this...

    Honestly I wouldn't go through the hassle of installing a freeze plug-style block heater in our engines. Just went out to find a coolant leak for the 2nd time... I'm going to pull it out and replace it with a freeze plug.

    I feel like the design of these plugs is inferior, and it's not worth the risk of losing your engine.

    Money better spent on a good battery and battery/oil pan blanket.

    Just my .02
