I recently had to replace my alternator as it got "water damage." according to the dealer. I couldn't find an aftermarket one so I ended up spending 698 for a new factory one....

One thing I noticed is if you look above the tire on the passanger side, you can see the alternator and it's completely open to the elements....instead of at least being higher up on top of the engine.

The muddy water I went through came up to the doors on my stock truck and I was told I should replace all my fluids also???

I also have an issue after washing under my truck with a pressure washer, the throw out bearing makes noise. It's going to cost me 400 to replace the bearing, but a friend said if it feels normal it should be ok for a little while???

It would be quite difficult to aid with these issues over the interwebs. The guys who go mudding more frequently would have much better advice, so I'd suggest posting in this thread this afternoon to bump this thread to the top later.

As for a stock Alternator, you should have the same alternator as all 2nd gen tacomas (Years 2005 - 2013). I'm sure there are plenty of aftermarket alternators, who told you there wasn't? The dealership??.

One of the main things with mudding is moving the breather tubes for your diff to higher locations to prevent water seeping inside them whilst mudding. All details located here:

Are you automatic or Manual? 5 spd? 6spd? The throw out bearing you mentioned leads me to believe you have a 6spd manual.

Thanks for the info. I went to a few places and only pepboys had an altenator for my truck, which ended up having the "wrong connector."

I have the 5 speed manual. I miss my v6 6spd trd. 4cyl is great off road in 4 low but slow on the road.

I just changed intakes entirely and supercharged my v6. Supposedly the mod is much more effective on the I4's
