2.7 CLutch whine

Ok guys did some searching around and couldnt find any previous discussion on this. I have a 2006 2.7L Regular Cab Prerunner with a three inch lift and 33s. In the last few weeks ive started noticing a noise, it only happens when the clutch is pressed, it sounds just like a wore out power steering pump whine, but like i said it is only whith the clutch pressed, also it moves with the rpms of the engine, the higher the rpm the louder the whine... any Ideas? ive seen plenty of threads on clutch noises but all of them the sound went away with the clutch pressed.. the clutch has always slipped a little bit when starting on a hill and the lift and tires made that slightly worse..

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated

You are most likely looking at the release bearing or "Throwout" bearing. It is under load when your clutch is depressed, hence the much louder noise at that point. Do some searches on here about throwout bearing and clutch noise and you will find reams of threads.

I Concur...... I'd also suspect the throw out bearing. As for the slipping clutch - I'm not sure if there is an adjustment for the clutch play - but I think if it's too tight it forces the throw out bearing to constantly give pressure to the pressure plate - causing possible clutch slip under heavy load and premature throw out bearing wear ...
