Trade it in for a V6.

Am I the only one who wants to see pics/list of mods for the 13 second Civic?

Save up for a while and buy a beater car. When I got rid of my mustang and went back to driving a truck year round, I thought every car I drove was fast after that.

You got a prerunner or base?

If it's a base, a change in rear end gearing from the economy 3.23-ish to the prerunner's 4.10 would be a big change for acceleration from a standstill...

If really feel the need for speed, get the V6. If you don;t to haul or tow anything heavy then I guess you are just missing the power. I just got a 2009 4 cylinder 4x4 Tacoma and I love it! I have had V6 4runners befor but I don't miss the V6. The 2ng V6 Tacomas have a lot more power, yes, but I find my 4 banger gets me going with no problems. Drives great at high speeds too!

If it makes you feel any better the '86 4Runner 4x4 my dad owned had the FI 2.4 that made a asphalt crushing 130hp at about the same weight as the Tacoma, wasn't really fast but got the job done.

Keep in mind also that the current 2.7L is as big as some older V6's.

I fly airplanes for a living so fast is relative. Landing a 25000lb airliner at 130-150 mph takes care of the rush. The airplane I fly isn't even all that big in the airline world.

Put big tires on it & just amble around all stylinlike. People will be all lookin thinkin your goin too fast no matter what speed it is. It's an adjustment, just chill around in the truck pretending your trying to conserve fuel. In the end, nobody cares as long as you don't cause stupid accidents from trying to go too fast. That's what will impress everyone. Use the truck to haul your fast to the track. That also will impress.

Having finally driven the new Taco all the way home from Billings, MT the 4 banger is plenty adequate for day to day driving. Maybe I've been HP deprived my entire driving career. I started out with 80hp from a 1.6L, moved up to 120hp 2.5L and now the Taco with 160hp 2.7L with variable valve timing.

Dont buy 9m and bitch that it doesnt have the knock down power of a 12ga. Come on now, its a 4cyl. maybe you should have put a rear axle on the civic.

Ok not enough coffee this morning. The only way to get the speed out of a four banger and you have owned some, is to run it to 4 or 5k thats where it produces hp. I can get 80+mph in third gear. Just remember its a Toyota 4cyl and can take high revs all day long.

I can't help but wonder what you thought when you test drove it? I know I got mine onto the interstate to check it out - it's the V6 and I had no problems so I bought it...

Welcome to the world of trucks where torque often takes precedence over speed - and 4cyl engines are just... 4 cyl engines that are intended to work, not play.

Looks like there is some pretty cool stuff in development, be sure to post up pics / videos if you end up modding yer ride.
