I have a 2001 2.7l with 4.56 auto trans what would be the largest tire I can do with out killing performance or re-gearing. I am currently running on 265/75-R16.

What size tires are you looking at putting on it? I put 33s on my auto 4 banger with stock 4.11 gears and they turn fine. You shouldn't have any problem turning anything if you have 4.56s in it.

I put 33x10.50x15 bfg atko on my 2002 double cab auto with 4.56 gears and hate it on the highway. Around town it isn't bad but on the highway with a headwind or going up inclines I feel like I need to regear. I'm going back to a 32" tire.

ill be putting 255/85/16 cooper discoverer s/t on my 2.7 with 4.10's i'll let you know in about two weeks (hopefully they arrive by then) I will say if possible stick with an a/t tire over a m/t they are lighter and have less rolling resistance than m/t's. (my first choice is toyo open country a/t's but they don't make them in that size only the m/t and they are almost 200.00 more. and goodyear wrangler m/ts are noisy as hell.) i had the coopers on my 05 nissan frontier. I really liked them, they are a little noisy but way better than the goodyear wranglers. I have seen here and other forums that people are running the 255/85/16's on 4.10's and there are a few people who complain and others who say there isn't much difference, it leads me to believe that the latter drive like old grampa's and the prior drive their taco like it's a racecar... I assume it will be somewhere between.

Even after adding a couple hundred pounds of sliders & skids they're doing fine.

The tires are awesome!!! There is power loss but most of the time it is not noticable . my fuel mileage has dropped about two mpgs and on larger steeper hills I have to ds to 4th to maintain spd but other than that it is not much different. And I broke them loose the day I put them on lol I was pulling out hard into traffic from a gas station parking lot.... And I did it again today just for the hell of it at a stoplight with no one else around... There is no scrubbing (yet) but I haven't really flexed the suspension much at all but it will only rub potentially on my mudflaps and or the cab mount.... I should find out about that this weekend...
