So I've been looking at new vs. used in the 4cyl double cab market. Why is it that when I compare like models the used comes up being worth more than new? Specifically I've seen several 2011 models with prices in excess of 25k while new they are 25k or less. I've even compared prices on KBB and they confirm this. I'm dumbfounded. I know the used car market is strong, but it doesn't make sense to spend more on something used.

I posted this here because I'm looking specifically at the 4 cyl double cab prerunner and wondered what you folks might think.

It has to do with the market. A lot of people cannot get a new car loan because of their credit, but they can get one for a used car. They jack the price on the used because the demand is higher on used cars right now.

Just curious, I looked up my truck, a 2012 Access Cab SR5 base with AT.
KBB certified pre owned retail value with 10k is $23,537.
MSRP on my truck was $23,490.
    Weird!
