I have a stock 2006 2-wd 4-cyl and i want to put a 3" lift on it and was thinking about putting a locker in the rear-end. Any suggestions on engine upgrades or what kind of locker to use?

    welcome to TW.

On the engine, 2 best mods would be a decent airfilter or CAI. I use the afe pro dry. A header is a good option too. you'll notice some modest gains.

I put a trutrac LSD in mine, not sure what you'd prefer in a locker theres a lot to read on site for ARB lockers and auto locking ones.

Hi and welcome to TW also. Do you have a 5 lug (base) or 6 lug (Prerunner)?

You won't get gains from a drop in air filter. But your mind will feel gains anyway. You will get negligible gains from any intake.

Any 1 thing seems to make little difference, but you get 2-4 together it adds up.
Only 2 tests that matter beat a but dyno, mine lugs less on certain hills, also when I let out the clutch, it doesn't kill the engine nearly as readily.

Agreed things add up, but intake is last place I'd spend money.

It's in the truck, gears too. ;)
Plus, you cant really have a truck that lugs in 5th on a certain hill all the time fake a no lugging anymore...before the gears too.

Anyway its not our thread to snipe in. just welcome the new guy and such.
