Who runs 265/70/17's or 265/75/16's on their 4 cylinder 4X4?

I ordered some 265/70/17's (GY Duratracs) and Strike 6's, after reading some of the posts on here and talking to some people I know, I'm starting to get a little nervous about how much the tires will drag the truck down.

Most of the opinions have come from 4.0 6 cylinder owners (who tend to think the 4 cylinder is a worthless dog anyway) so I'd like to get the opinion of people that actually OWN a 4 cylinder with these sized tires and wheels.
Please give your impression overall, whether or not you haul much weight and whether or not you tow a trailer. Also, I have a regular cab so, I'm not packing as much weight as the access cab and double cab guys.

Should be fine . The tread is kinda aggressive but like I said should be fine . Probably lose 2mpg

I don't tow so no opinion on that, but the 265s feel just fine on my truck. I have had them on since the second week I've owned the truck, but you just get used to it. I didn't run the 245s long enough to even remember the difference, but I've never had a problem going the speed limit.

With that said, yes, its a 4 banger on bigger tires so you will have to downshift on hills, and will lose some gas mileage. I still consistently get 19 with my truck which has a lot of armor, so I'm happy

I have 265/75-16 LTX MS2s on mine. Not an aggressive tread.
I dropped about a tenth of a mpg after calculating for the diameter difference.

The difference in acceleration is a little but I don't notice it anymore. Long grades might require a downshift sooner but it is negligible.

I love the look, so no regrets.

I just got Hankook Dynapro ATm's 265/75/16 on my access cab 4x4. There's slight loss in power but my mpg has barely changed.

Ran GY Silent armor 265/75/16, a little worse on interstate inclines (always had to downshift on them, just felt like I had less go when I went in to 4th gr after moving up from 245s). Mpg basically same.

Now run LT265/75/16 Dynapro load range E and just got 19.9mpg calculated this morning. I saw right around 20 even on stock tires, the P265 goodyears, and now these super heavy LT tires. Some tanks +1, some tanks -1...

Forgot to mention that I lifted the truck a couple of months after switching to my first set of 265s. It doesn't seem like gas mileage suffered really.. but it certainly didn't help with needing to downshift on every hill.

And - I just remembered that today's tank and tanks in the last month or two have been at ~70mph. Up until then I was frequently hitting 80 on the interstate I used to take to work. That kills mpg

I'm running 265/75-16 km2's. no noticeable mpg change. Definitely doesn't like hills. Just ordered some 4.88 gears and front n rear arb's

I'm running 265/75/16 GY Duratracs. It's Defently a great tire. I notice an average difference of one to two mpg loss, depending on if I wheel. Little bit of power loss but it's not bad. I do rub on the mud flaps with my after market rims on. Fine with stock tho.

my mileage didn't really change going to 265/75's.barely 20 usually 19.5 and stuff.sometimes 21.

So, I finally got them mounted up yesterday. First think I noticed, I REALLY should have gone with 0 offset, haha. I can live with the -12 I got, the truck definitely looks "beefy" with the meaty tires sticking out a little, but for practicality would have been better tucked in more. My initial impression of this combo is that it is slightly noisier. I don't really notice any decrease in acceleration around town, though I never really hammer on it or anything anyway. The speedo is off a small amount (according to my GPS) 60 MPH indicated is actually 62, whereas with the stock tires 60 indicated was 59 actual. The big difference is going up hills, there's a pretty steep hill that I used to be able to maintain 60 MPH in forth, that required downshifting to third. Although I should point out I had the stock wheels and tires in the bed.

Yes. I have Bilstein 5100's in my storage unit (where all my tools are) and I'll be installing them as soon as we move to our new house. I also have some Firestone RideRite's that will be installed. Just having the stock wheels and tires in the bed level it out, so once I get it leveled, I'll need something to bolster the rear when I'm hauling stuff.

I have some rubbing on the front flaps entering my off camber driveway. I took off the backside front flaps but didn't have a wench or socket to do the fronts. I don't think I'd have any rubbing if I'd gone with 0 offset.

I just got some FJ wheels with the OEM Dueler HT tires in 265/70/17. I know these are light (crappy) tires but I expected a substantial power loss from the increased tire diameter. It's not nearly as bad as I expected. I can still get up to 75 on the highway with no problem. It's as flat as an ice rink where I live so I imagine the loss is more noticeable in other regions of the country. Before the swap, I could slightly float a stop sign in 2nd gear. Now I have to get into 1st. I can't speak for you guys who are going with a more aggressive A/T or M/T tread but the improvement in appearance far outweighs any negative impact on the driving characteristics.

I run Good Year Duratrac 265/75/16 ,stock suspension. The wheels & tires aren't heavy .Rims weigh 21 lbs & the "C" rated side wall is not heavy at all. My four banger goes as fast as I want it to without any trouble. The truck is very light & my milage is super good with a five speed stick. Heck ,if I want sports car performance, I drive one of my other cars. The Taco is a pissa of a truck .
