2002 2.7 Tacoma, Starts, and idles ok, but starves out when accelerated, will go to about 3grand on gradual before it starves. I have cleaned throttle body, & MAF. 89k miles, no evidence of shadetree tampering, all hoses, clamps are as they should be. Could it be the filter clogged, or weak fuel pump,or??? You can hear pump running when switched on.

    Thanks, Bill

Edited to say...what is the psi for the fuel pump, and where is the test port located?

Gonna try fuel filter first, Checked TPS, it's Ok, talked to a mechanic friend, he thinks maybe MAF sensor, pump pres. seems to be OK. Took MAF with me to Pull-A-part, couldn't find one, put it back..runs worse than ever now.(thinking MAF)

Can anyone tell me if there's a connection to check pump preassure, and where it is?????

Changed fuel filter, ran OK for short time, then back to same. Filter was totally blocked, looked like muddy water ran out of line from tank, guess it's pull the tank time. Is there a diagram of the hoses, and do you need special tools to disconnect anything? There was a black sediment also in the filter. Truck is an insurance total, and rebuilt, thinking it sat for a spell, no telling where, or what got in the tank.

Fuel filter had a black powdery residue..Could this be pump going bad??? gonna pull the filter to see if it's clogged again. Got it running good enough to drive a short distance, stopped and let it sit for about 15 minutes, wouldn't start, hit it with starting fluid, started, and ran OK.

Pulled #1 plug, it was black, running too rich looking. No way to check converter/muffler, runs really peppy, don't think it's that.

One more thing, sprayed starting fluid into throttle body, started, and died, sprayed again, put intake tube back in place, started, and ran OK.

If I had any hair, I would be pullin it out...Bill

Update...pump pressure 10/12 PSI...should be 25+ thinking the black stuff in the filter was pump parts. Pulled new filter, it is clean, checked pressure on both sides of filter checked same PSI on both sides. Tank pullin time...Oh well.
