Would it be a waste? Is there even enough power to feed the super charger or turbo?

What does that even mean? Either will work.

Choice is based on how the vehicle will be used.

The critical thing for engine safety, with either, is engine management and the tune.

Its possible and it would add a bit of under hood complexity.
URD makes a bolt up super charger system for the 2TR and has all the supporting components you will need.

A turbo kit as far as I know is fabricated to your needs. I have yet to see a full bolt up kit for the 2TR including fuel and electronic upgrades.

Just as an FYI when adding more air you will need additional fuel. The stock injectors are fine for about 230 horsepower. Some trucks can get more.

There is a company that is selling new fuel injectors for the 2TR-FE that are built specifically for this engine. They go from stock replacement to radical. For more information PM me.

The 2tr uses the same block as a 3rz. Boost on my friend!! Crank and rods are drop forged, and the pistons are hypereutectic.

Just remember block is the same but the pistons rings and wrist pins are completely different. The rings are 1.2mm if I remember correctly. If you have high mileage do a compression test. Also check fuel trims with a scangauge or something to that nature. If your trims are over 10% there is a problem that needs to be attended to first.

I have never understood this... if you wanted something more powerful, wouldn't it be smarter to start off with a 6-cyl?

Why do you want to troll a thread that you have no intention of staying on topic with? I never understood this...

I would say you are definitely correct, but the OP Was a very basic question so it gets the short answer lol

Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good engine when you could start with one that is more correctly matched to what the owner wants?

I was just responding to the other gentleman's post. All info so far has been very positive for boosting. I would not be surprised to see the OP running boost before years end. :burnrubber:

Maybe the owner wants a turbo 2TR-FE.

Because its the 4cyl section, and the description of the 4cyl reads:

    "
    4 Cylinder
Discussion for questions and issues specific to 4-cylinder Tacomas
    "

So now that being said, you are totally allowed to lay your opinion down wherever you are, but don't be condescending towards people who don't have your personal goals in mind.
