Looking at Tacomas...

Ok Guys, I'm a newbie here, about to buy a 2014 Access Cab Tacoma I4. My question is why does one style seem to sit up higher than another, both being access cab? What exactly is the suspension difference, and does this affect gas mileage since both window stickers seem to say the same thing 19/24?

any help is appreciated!!

The lower one will get better MPG

Look up 5 lug vs 6 lug

People claim its all over the place for the I4. The 2wd regular cabs can get mid to high 20s and the 4x4s seem to get high teens to low 20s. Depends on what you need. I got the v6 for power and i live in a hilly area. You'll get better milage than me no matter what I4 configuration you go with.

You know, I need to put a hitch on the truck, and all I can find is 4 pin wiring harnesses. Do they not make 7 pin??

I have a regular cab 4x4 5spd and I was getting a steady 24mpg with ~60% highway during the summer with stock sized tires. I've only been 19-21mpg during the winter likely due to winter gas and a slightly different commute route.

Well my little pop up camper has a 7 pin, so I'm needing something. It doesnt have trailer brakes, and I don't care about charging the battery, but I do need lights when hauling so I need some way to hook it up.

Have you looked for a 4-pin to 7-pin adapter?

The difference is that the Access Cab PreRunner has the same suspension as the 4x4. I've had my 2013 Access Cab PreRunner with the 2.7/Auto since the end of August. I track my mileage consistently and the very best highway mileage is 22.4. My worst in-town mileage has been 16.9. Common wisdom says that the base 5 lug will get 1 to 3 mpg better than the PreRunner. I absolutely love my truck. I think you've made a good choice.
