Ok so I used to work for Toyota and fell in love with the Tacoma, but have only ever driven modded V6s and I want a regular cab. I'll be going with a 2012-2014 2.7L 5 Speed

I will be wheeling the truck regularly with 33s most likely. My biggest question is (of course) power. My previous wheeling truck was a 2008 Hemi Jeep running 33s on 3.73s but had 460hp so it was a monster. I'm currently driving a Subaru STi thats up over 400hp too and is also a monster. I have become a "when in doubt, throttle out" type of offroader so when I want to stomp on it, I'd really like to know there's some power behind me, even if its "gear power" instead of "horsepower".
Now, I know its not going to be 460hp, but can I expect to climb over the occasional tree and such or should I expect an issue? The last thing I want to do is give up my $40,000 sports car and end up disliking the taco.

Can anyone lend some insight? A 0-60 video maybe? Even a wheeling video in 4Low? Street driving is easy to tell but 4Low is where the work is really done.

My goal here is rope together my offroading truck and my daily into one vehicle without breaking the bank and buying a Raptor haha.

You could always LS swap, 1JZGTE, 2JZGTE, 7MGTE, small block 350 swap...oh thats right, you want to save money lol.

or just find a wrecked V6 and 1GR-FE swap or a 4.7 v8 or 5.7 v8 swap....many options and the banks have plenty of money to lend....its only money :D

The 2.7 is slow but it will get you anywhere you need to go, even with 285s

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.
This is an acceleration run to 60 mph of my 2012 base model standard cab 2.7 5 speed...

It has simple bolt on mods specifically designed to increase low end torque.

The stock engine hits its torque peak at 3,800 rpm,
while my engine reaches its torque peak at only 2,900 rpm.

I had a four-banger in my old Ranger 5 speed. Put it in low and you'll never know. I used to hit this exact same trail with it, and even a bit worse, a LOT. And that was a 92 Ford.
