Whining Sound driving me crazy!

Good morning guys, I need some help. I noticed a slight vibration along with a whining sound coming from drive train. Dealer replaced universal joint. Problem still exists. They replaced drive shaft with no change. You really notice the whining sound( like a bad bearing ) around 65 mph. I crawled under truck and u joint and driveshaft look good. I can spin the drive shaft that goes from the
Transfer case to the front axle. Is this normal ? 4 wheel drive works good.
I would appreciate any help, it's time to figure this out.

 

I replaced the front wheel bearings (bought from TW vendor Bamatoy Marion bumper to bumper) and my truck is quiet as a mouse, now.

 

As for being able to spin the front driveshaft, yes that's normal. The drivetrain disconnects in 2WD both in the transfer case and the front differential.

I wonder if our trucks' conditions are similar.

I get complaints from passengers about the whining in my truck but it just keeps on running. I've listened to its annoying noises for just shy of 20k miles now. Who knows if the transmission is bad or is just a Friday model, but my 52-62mph 5th gear whine is just plain aggravating.

I've got vibration, but it's not driveline (I had that rebuilt and balanced). Vibration is in the shifter only, 5th gear only, only happens when on the gas, but sometimes taking it out of gear and putting it back in makes it go away. Shifting into 5th at a higher speed usually makes it disappear for as long as I keep it in that gear.

I've had a 65-ish whine before that's a different pitch than my normal tranny whine but it's never lasted long enough to pinpoint it. I'll hear it clear as a bell one day and then nigh a peep for months.

I guess in your case the first thing I would do is figure out if it makes the same whining noise in 4th gear at that speed. It could rule out the transmission.

 

Does it make the same sound at 65 mph in both 2H and 4H?
