Have only changed the oil myself once in my tacoma and I used Castrol GTX and a Purolater Pure One filter. Just wondering what everyone else is running

I use the Purolator 'Pure One' with Amsoil XL 7500, 5w-20. No, I'm not an Amsoil Dealer. It was on sale and I and wanted to try synthetic. I had the oil anaylyzed after running it 8k (30k on truck), passed with flying colors! Keeping your air filter clean is a key part of assuring contaminents (silica and such) don't wear out the bearings. I recently learned that Amsoil has a 25k and a 35k (or one year) oil also. If you're going to spend the $ for synthetic, having an oil anaylsis is money well spent. I'm at 10k on the 2nd oil change, I drive about 10k a year so spending the extra $ for the 25 or 35k doesn't pan out for me.

    96 Tacoma,
Went with my old standby of rotella, with a quart of slick 50 and a Pure One filter. This was my first oil change and i just happened to have lots of the rotella on hand. I'll have to figure out which oil i'm going to stick with long term but i figure it will be the castrol high mileage semi synthetic formula(in the pretty metallic green bottle)
with a quart of lucas at every 3500 mile change. The Pure one filter was supposed to rate pretty high so i'll stick with those. I run slick 50 through every 50k.

In my other working trucks(mostly chevy), my non caring drivers could rack up 250,000+ miles with me using the rotella/lucas/slick 50/pureone products and when the trucks would finally have major trouble, it would be rear ends and tranny's.... the motors ALL still had good compression with never a bit of internal trouble.

Makes me wonder why i never ran lucas or slick 50 in the rear ends and transmissions..hmm. Anyway, good stuff..J

Amsoil 0w-30, and Amsoil oil filter change the oil and filter once a year, more expensive up front but saves time and hassle. I maintain 3 vehicles at home plus my stepson's, which happens to be my old ride, so 4 total.

Have used any SM rated oil that is on BOGO or FAR. I am using Toyota OEM Filters. Changed every 5K miles, the engine will last forever, a lot longer than the rest of the truck. Oils I have used are, Valvoline 5w-20 white bottle, Valvoline Synpower 5w-30, and my next fill will be QS HP 5w-30. So far no oil use with any. When the warranty is up I will do extended drains with OTC synthetics.
