P0441 Code

    98 Tacoma 4X4
    The truck is a 98 single cab, 2.7, 6 lug. It has 100775 miles on it. I bought it about two months ago with just under 100K on it.

    This morning I started it to run into town. The check engine light stayed on after it started. I stopped at a parts house and had the code checked. It is P0441. This thing came with a 12/12 warranty, but I'd be willing to be that excludes emissions.

    Is there a code reader that is superior to others for working on this truck? I might as well buy one as this most likely will not be the only time that damn light comes on.

    Other than that, if anyone has an idea about where to start looking for the problem I'd appreciate a point in the right direction. I intend to start by trying to push the problem off on the place where I bought the truck.
