I was wondering if its normal for my '06 2.7 to idle at 2400rpm just after start up. I have never owned an engine this small, so I'm pretty well lost.

That seems a little high. My Taco first start of the day with idle about 1500rpm until it's warmed up. The high idle is usually for emissions equipment, the catalysts don't work well until they're warm.

Mine idles around 2000 rpm when it is cold. After it warms up it is around 700 rpm.

Any thoughts on th cause of this? I thought it was due to the cold but it still idled quite high at +4 (celsius)

i did it at 25k and noticed a lot or benefit! In addition to a little bit of black dribbleing out the muffler, I notices a much smoother idle (And I did not have any issues with the idle before hand) and just smoother driving all around

Seafoam? You gotta be kidding me.. I'd either take it in or get a factory manual and start disecting it.. Find out what makes it idle. See if it's adjustable or replaceable.

That sounds loads safer to do than seafoam haha

Mine does the same thing, idles at about 2k before calming down. I've had a few other 4 cylinders and never had it happen before. It's kind of annoying..

Sport wheels added.
It's a cold idle circuit. ECU controlled I thought. Gotta get a manual soon.

2400 seems pretty high to me too. My 2.7 idles at about 1500 at start up and will settle to a little over 1k after it warms up
