Is a 4x2 4 Cylinder really that hard to find.

I bought a 4x2 4 cylinder Tacoma with Auto and Access cab (very basic) and only option package I got was the SR5 package. I am very pleased with it. However I realize the 4 wheel drive and 6 cylinder are more popular, but I find it hard to believe it was difficult to find a 4 Cylinder basic model of Tacoma. I live near Knoxville Tn, and I checked all of Eastern Tennessee and at the time found a few, but they were standard, and I wanted automatic. I finally went to our local Toyota dealer and they done a dealer trade, which was from Murfreesboro Tn, (near Nashville Tn). As for me I did not know 4 Cylinders were that few in number. Had anyone else thad that problem getting a basic truck?

I would think so for the area. 4x4 is fairly pointless in Florida. The sand is hard enough to where you can drive a car on it, it never snows, and most of the state is everglades where you're not taking a stock truck in to begin with. I actually flew down there to drive back a truck I bought because up North is the exact opposite whereas you can't find a 2wd 4 cyl here for a reasonable amount of money.

Just so happens I live in M'boro and bought mine 2 years ago at Toyota of M'boro. They always seen to have at least one AC 4x2 SR5 w/auto on the lot. I've seen 3 identical to mine in M'boro.

Think it's a regional thing. No problem finding them in SoCal.

I just walked on the lot last year for the hell of it, asked for a white single cab 4 cylinder 2wd, stick. Was told they didn't have any. Looked around for a few minutes, asked "what's that?" and they were unloading what I wanted off the truck.

I could understand the 6 cyl if you're towing or have a double cab with a full load of passengers. Maybe. But damn if my 4 cylinder doesn't have more power than I have ever been able to use.
