I'd like to think of myself as at least a marginally smart guy. Today I did the 30K mile service on my 2.7 base Taco, as I do every 5K miles. As I was checking off all of the items in the service book, I get to "change spark plugs". What? Are you kidding me? At 30K miles? I wasn't prepared to do this. Gotta go buy some.

Then I realized I was checking off the 4.0L schedule. Oops.

I did my spark plugs at 60k. They still looked fine. I doubt that's needed

If you read under the asterik, it states plugs are to be done to conform to emmisions rules, or something to the affect.

Yeah, I read that. I checked the service book up 90K miles and there was still no mention of a plug change for the 2.7. Sucks the 4.0L guys have to even think about a plug change that often...at least Cali guys, anyway.

"Say What?" is right! Why are you doing the 30K service every 5K miles?

I'm not. The whole point of the story was I was looking at the 4.0L service schedule by mistake. The "say what?" was I was initially surprised to think I needed a plug change at 30k miles....until I realized....um, wrong engine.

The point of this thread was just to shoot-the-breeze a bit and poke a little fun at myself. Not to be serious.

Just meant that I service her every 5K miles. This one just happened to be at 30K miles. ;)
