I have a 98 Tacoma with the 2.7. Tonight I drove up to the gas station only 2 miles away then came back home. later on I tried to start the truck and nothing. It cranks and cranks but shows no sign what soever of starting. What I have done so far is check my efi fuses with a volt meter and they are all fine. Is there anymore fuses that I should check? Then loosened some sort of banjo bolt on the back of the fuel rail to see if I seen any fuel and there was some that leaked out. So does that rule out that I am getting fuel? Haven't checked spark yet. I'll have to wait till tomorrow when some one will crank it over for me. It just don't make sense to me how it ran fine then an hour later it does nothing. Any help would be appreciated I need this truck to go to work please help.

Wondering if you have a security system? On Toyotas with the security chipped key if you use a key that doesn't have the security chip it'll crank all day with out a cough.

Check your gas cap and make sure it's tight. It could be a fuel issue because if you pulled the banjo off the fuel rail it should have been under pressure unless you relieved it from the cap/system. Anymore details.

I'll try this. But it does not have an alarm system.

Truck has spark. Guess it is a fuel issue. Is the fuel pump in the tank? Any more fusses I should check?

Were the spark plugs wet with fuel after cranking it over?

No. I checked for that and they weren't wet. Thought that was odd so that's what led me to believe its fuel related.

Honesty a big pain in the ass but, no special skills needed. My guess is that you filled the truck up at the fuel store? Remember to replace fuel filter at the same time.

I think I'm better off pulling the bed then dropping the tank correct?

If you pull the bed, no need to drop the tank.

Make sure everything is secure and tightly fastened. My 2nd gen would click and not start just because the battery terminals were loose/corroded. I hope you get things figured out!
    Best of Luck

Also might want to rule out a bad relay before digging in.

What diagnostics have been done to prove the pump needs replacing?

That's a lot of work (and cost) if that's not the root cause.
