Is it constant or just at start up?

How many miles are on it? Its most likely valve tapping. Mine does it at start up for a few seconds. If you have a lot of miles you might have to check your valve clearences. The tapping is common on these engines from what i have read. What oil and filter are you using? If you are not using a good synthetic and the toyota filter you might try switching to those and see if you get improvment.
