Ok got a 2000 prerunner 2.7 When taking off from a complete stop the truck hesitates kinda stumbles then catches up and everything is fine. It has just started. The fuel filter was replaced not long ago. Everything seems fine. Every now and again there's a quick pop not real loud almost soubed like a backfire. Possibly a bad spark plug?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Installing new plugs would be a good start. Check for dry, brittle or cracked vacuum lines.

you have a misfire...start with a tune up and then start looking for other problems.

it is the correct heat range? are you having terrible gas mileage? is it getting good spark?

Those would be my first three questions.

Heat is fine. Gas mileage has been slowly declining for a while went from 19.7 to 18.8 over the coarse of about 2 months according to the ultra gauge

I would look for a failure in the ignition system...does that motor use the individual coil towers?

I'm not sure. It's the 2.7 from 2000 just changed the plugs. Cleaned the throttle body I'm waiting on the k&n to wick all the oil it needs then I'll test drive an. Check for improvments

oh...I think I just found why your plugs are fouling...how about you put fresh plugs in and try a paper air filter?
