Rear main seal leaking

I was wondering if anyone has had any oil leaks with there 2.7l before. Mine has a very small oil leak that looks like the rear main seal. it takes literally 2-3 months to even move on the dipstick thats why i havent messed with it yet but i can see it on the engine block when i get under the truck. it now has 125,000 miles.

 

I haven't heard of these leaking on 2.7s but anything can wear out on any individual engine, I suppose.
Might be a good time to put in a clutch if you have a manual trans, and replace it while you have it exposed.
If you have an auto, I'd just keep an eye on it until it really needs replaced. Unless you're afraid it will suddenly blow your oil.

 

125K and a minor leak.. Keep on driving!

 

My 04 Tundra had a very small leak at same approximate area and it appears it was from a quality issue on assembly line. It seems the sealant was not applied correctly around pan to block area and caused a misting/weepage of oil. Never really left a drop on driveway but was present on block and pan at oil changes. Dealer pulled pan and used correct sealant in right area to solve the problem. Perhaps your Tacoma has same issue.....

i have busted my front right CV axle seal and i drove on for like a week but get it fixed soon man

 

x2 forget aboutit!!! just make sure you are good on oil until you get the funds to repair, or just keep oil in it until you need a rebuild
