Thats why I bought this truck

I just took a trip (in a rather hurry) to columbus and back (8 hours round trip). With my MT tires and running 85-90 ++ mph with the a/c on, I just checked the mileage out of curiousity and still got 21.9 miles to the gallon............That helped reassure me why I bought this truck to begin with....My 2500 Hemi ram on a similar trip with similar driving pattern managed to drop into single digits 9 mpg.

 

Why the hurry? I hope everything's OK.

 

yeah i wouldn't buy a truck that got less than 20 miles a gallon...it's just rediculous unless you work on a farm or something or actually need to tow heavy equipment, trailers, and such...everyone i see with big trucks just drives them to work and stuff... you can haul a boat, jet skis, lawnmowers and atvs with a 4 banger....what's the point in having a huge truck?...what a waste of gas and making our gas prices go up...lol....seriously i can't believe they even sell trucks that get 15 mpg or less....what a joke

 

lucky with my truck, mt first level ac driving 75 i got 18.5

 

I just drove about 230 miles one way to Mytrle Beach and I only averaged about 16. Only got 265-75-17s on there too. Had cruise control set right at 75 mph and the rpms were just above 2000. Usually I get better mileage, about 20-21. I dont know why it guzzled this time.

 

i get better mileage when i dont use cruise control. i heard cruise control really sucks down the gas and people report better mileage just having a good easy foot without the cruise on. i do a little better without cruise personally also but idk if its just the way i drive, who knows haha

 

I always thought it was better to use cruise control. I made the trip before and got about 20mpg. But for some reason on this trip the mpgs relly sucked.

 

Mileage with cruise is better if you can't keep a constant speed or anticipate hills. If you can do those two things yourself you usually can get better than with cruise (you end up coasting down hills, and pre-accelerating to get up hills easier)

 

yea cruise control gets up on the uphills but for me its way to hard to keep a constant speed with my foot and i am on pretty smooth land most of the time

 

i just noticed tis is in the 4cyl section too.
I have a 6 cyl.
