My '05 developed a rattle and it was one of the 4 bolts that hold the bed down... Simple tighten up (need special socket)... problem solved!

Loose bed bolts?

I just don't see now those bolts could loosen. Mine looked loose but I had to use a 3' extension to remove it. If I had just tightened it instead of inserting that rubber spacer I mentioned, the bed would be twisted, which is visible from behind the truck (anyone following me could plainly see the bed wasn't level with the cab back window).

If I wanted that I woulda bought a Ford.

Thanks y'all. I had this same issue after driving through some heavy brush this weekend. I thought I might have knocked something vital loose, but it was just the spare tire. I feel a little silly for not checking that until after reading this post...

My leaf springs are extremely squeaky and the front end is noticeably lower than when I bought the truck. I hope to be installing a full OME lift soon.

It is the leaf springs. I have a 2011 Taco that does the same thing. The service tech told me it was the leaf springs.

I figured this is my problem too.
I have a 2013, I just changed my leafs to Deavers so they need to get broken in.

My 2010 TRD Short Bed Double Cab with 8k miles has the same rattles - although I sometimes get the feeling it comes from which ever wheel is currently hitting the pot hole (ie: even the front). Is there any sort of test to confirm the shocks are all working per spec?

I have yet to check the bolts in the bed. I have crawled underneath to see if the spare is loose (it isn't) but I haven't tried actually dropping the spare and re-attaching it.

Regarding the leaf springs - How can I determine that they are the root cause and what piece of them would be rattling ?

Thanks,
-PH

Check the bed bolts. That was the cause of my rattle.
