Pulling Aliner camper with 4 cylinder

Old owner of new Taco Access cab with 2.7/auto. I want to buy an Aliner pop- up camper. Has anyone pulled one with 4 cylinder auto? Camper weighs about 1500 lbs dry.

It will pull it, getting it going is not as much of an issue as stopping it. 1500lbs is pretty light.

 

You will be fine. I pull a double jetski trailer with 2 800lb ski's on it. Total weight of about 2000lbs quite a bit. It's a bit slow to get going and takes a bit longer to stop but nothing you wouldn't expect...

I pull a 2008 Aliner Scout with my 05 2.7 Prerunner. In 4th it will pull most freeway grades with the cruise set at 70 and still get between 17 and 20 mpg. Some really steep grades you have to downshift to 3rd.

The Prerunner has a 4.10 axle so it's pretty easy to start out.

My Aliner is all electric. Fridge, hot water heater, microwave, heat. I have a Prodigy brake controller. Tows very stable - no sway.

Only problem is that I don't get to use it enough! Gonna retire a three or four years and hope to use it much more.

It'll tow that no problem. Your truck is rated to tow 3500 lbs, so you're WELL within that. I tow a boat that weighs 1000 lbs more than what you're talking about with my reg. cab 2.7L 5-speed manual - and it handles it just fine. Go for it.
