Hey guys... I have a 1998 2.7L 3RZ and I have a question. It feels to me like the engine has a little miss, and it has a little flutter off the bottom when I rev it from idle, throttle response is lacking because of it. What can I do or what might the problem be? I never seemed to have an issue when I first got it less than a month ago. I put new plugs and wires on it, and it seems to run just fine cruisin down the road, but then I noticed the miss.

Are the plugs propperly/correcttly gapped? What kind of wires?

my truck is a 2.7L 1998. It has a distributer obviously, the wires are just OEM replacement, the plugs are NGK platinum's. They should be gapped at .040-.041 correct..?

Make sure the wires are all connected propperly, and check the gap of the plugs. You could have a bad wire, and the spark is jumping the bad part.

well that's why i replaced the wires... I had a couple bad ones. As far as a major tune-up what are you talking..? Lubes, plugs, wires, filters, etc..?

Fuel Filter possibly, that is the one thing I haven't done..? I did all the lubes, filters, plugs and wires about 5,000 miles ago when I got the truck in late June. The truck now has around 198,XXX miles on her...

Couldnt hurt to replace the fuel filter, though if its plugged, the issues usually alear when you are under a lload.

So, no second thought about the distributor cap?

Once I thought about it I realized it never had a distributer.... it has electronic ignition... Since I had it I've done new exhaust from the cat back and full service. I don't really know what else to think...

changed the fuel filter... that was a PITA. Still have a miss... I'm leaning towards a vacuum leak now, maybe intake needs to be resealed. I'm going to do the old ether trick and see if I can't find a leak somewhere...

Just so you guys know... it was the damn plugs the guy at the parts house gave me. He gave me some platinum jobbers and I never really thought about it. Changed em out and shes running like a champ...
