Definitely not before 5,000 miles. Risks BIG TIME tranny damage....nah I'm just shittin'. Whenever you want.

Your gas mileage will be different with every tank if you take it to enough decimal places. Just because it's going to change doesn't mean you can't start tracking it now...

mpg

I have had my truck since July. I just got back from Talladega and turned 2500 miles while on the trip. I got 18.2 on one of the tanks on the way up and 18.7 on one of the tanks on the way home. I thought that was awesome considering the '99 Chevy Tahoe clunker I traded never got over 13mpg no matter how I drove it.

I agree. If a simple addition like that increased gas mileage by 25%, Toyota and every other truck maker would be putting them on so they could pump up their advertised gas mileage.

lightweight ones can increase gas mileage depending on the truck's shape, but not 25%.

Trust me - coming soon you'll see more of them on trucks! (let's just say it's been proven in a lab setting)

The bed cover myth has been disproved a million times along with taking the tailgate off. An open bed with tailgate up is with out any doubt, proven to get best mpg.

The cheapest thing you can do to increase your gas mileage is drive under 65 MPH, or better under 60.
